Book Review - Cathy's Ring by Jordan Weisman, Sean Stewart, Cathy Brigg

Cathy's Ring by Jordan Weisman, Sean Stewart, Cathy Brigg

Synopsis
Following on from Cathy's Book and Cathy's Key, 18-year-old Cathy wakes up one morning to discover three dead bodies slumped outside her house in San Francisco. One of the Eight Immortals, Ancestor Lu, is sending hired assassins after Cathy because she stole the mortality serum (this has the power to render even an immortal mortal). Cathy runs away from home to be pursued across the state, accompanied by broken-armed Denny, ingenious best friend Emma and techno-savvy Pete. Will Cathy escape Ancestor Lu's clutches? And can she keep 'evil twin' Jewel and boyfriend Victor safe

My Review

I was somewhat surprised by this short read which is the final part in The Cathy Vickers Triology. Having only read this book I was thrown into the unexpected world of the immortals and the immortals hunt for Cathy (if you know me....you know I don't read the synopsis, they just give too much away)

Cathy's Ring is a very interesting and fun read with murder and mystery for you to solve along the way, its unique and intriguing with its interesting doodles on most of the pages and the diary approach is perfect for telling Cathy's story. The characters are well thought out and I have an envious love for Emma and Cathy's friendship..... they show that true friendship never dies no matter what.

Overall I wasn't overly excited by it even though its a great book and think it was mainly because I read it as a stand alone I would definitely recommend reading Cathy's Book and Cathy's Key before reading this one so that you understand everything that has happened from the beginning which is why I have just took my own advice and ordered them both ;o)

And if you don't believe me just check out the trailer I'm sure you will be smitten

Happy Reading xxx

  1. I had a look on amazon when I received this, and it pretty much said the same thing...that you really need to read the other books in the series first.

  4. I read the first because it just LOOKED cool with the sketches and all the little tie ins but I can't even remember how it ended..or if I even finished it for that matter. For all the cool designing, etc, the story was just bland and boring I thought! x
