Book Review - The Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan

The Dead Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan

Synopsis
Carrie Ryan's sensational new novel reveals more of the secrets of the world after the return of the Unconsecrated and introduces a new heroine who must tangle with her mother's secrets. Gabry lives a quiet life, secure in her town next to the sea and behind the Barrier. She's content to let her friends dream of the Dark City up the coast while she watches from the top of her lighthouse. Home is all she's ever known and, and all she needs for happiness. But life after the Return is never safe and there are threats even the Barrier can't hold back. Gabry's mother thought she left her secrets behind in the Forest of Hands and Teeth, but, like the dead in their world, secrets don't stay buried. And now, Gabry's world is crumbling. One night beyond the Barrier ...One boy Gabry's known forever and one veiled in mystery ...One reckless moment, and half of Gabry's generation is dead, the other half imprisoned. Now Gabry knows only one thing: if she has any hope of a future, she must face the forest of her mother's past.

My Review
If I had too choose a Fave out of the 2 books The Forest of Hands and Teeth and The Dead Tossed Waves I would have to say The Dead Tossed Waves wins hands down.....Its more of a companion novel then a sequel to TFOHAT, we still have a few characters in it that are in The Forest of Hands and Teeth but the overall point of the characters are to see it from the next generation point of view.

I personally feel that Carrie's writes with passion her characters and the location are well thought out and suited the novel perfectly. I found myself in love with so many of the characters and I was in aww with how much my emotions changed the more I read! TDTW is a gripping and spell binding read that kept me engaged from beginning to end...I can not wait until the next book especially as TDTW ended with the need for me to read more and its a dying rage that I have to wait!!

I seriously recommend this series if you haven't already read it!

Book Review - The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Synopsis
The Sisterhood always knows best.
The Guardians will protect and serve.
The Unconsecrated will never relent.

And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth.
But, slowly, Mary's truths are failing her. She's learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. When the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, she must choose between her village and her future-between the one she loves and the one who loves her.
And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?

My Review

So when I recieved an email asking me to post my review for this book on my Blog I was like hmmm I love the book but I think it deserves a re-read so that everything is fresh in my mind....but really it was just an excuse to re-read it ;o) The Forest of Hands and Teeth is the first in a series by Carrie Ryan and reading it was the best thing I did.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth is very engaging - always keeping me on the edge of my seat dying to know the secrets of this hidden world, dying to find out what was going to happen next without ever getting bored. Being a fast paced and full of action novel with its nail biting realities mad it a splendid and fascinating read....With the latest paranormal trends lately, I thought it was going to be a long long time before I picked up anything other than wolves and vampires but Carrie takes Zombies to a whole new level in a world that is unique in its own.

The main character Mary takes you on a journey of discovery and what lies behind the fences in The Forest of Hands and Teeth. She is a dreamer and like her mother had a better plan of the world then staying secure and she was willing to risk her life for that vision, losing all her friends and family along the way. It reminded me so much of careless teenage days when we don’t look at the bigger picture and only see one vision ahead doing whatever we can to get there regardless of who we hurt on the way, but without realizing it we hurt ourselves only. Mary was a strong and well written character and even though she was a little selfish at times it suited her role well... she was an adventurer and its die or live and suffering the consequences as she went.

Overall the Forest of Hands and Teeth was a brilliant read, one that once I picked it up I was unable to put down and yet I have read it twice and still it has the same ongoing effect of a well written and engaging novel with no end the adventure. A must read for all my paranormal fans out there...believe me when I say it’s nothing like dawn of the dead ;o)

Also if you’re one of those that have not watched the trailer yet...it will only persuade you more...enjoy
