I try to base my thoughts on the book itself NOT the book it has similarities to (if it has any.)Jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14454972223442735540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7616987303830914282.post-10986458753359615592010-10-29T19:49:28.860+01:002010-10-29T19:49:28.860+01:00Hi there! In YA particularly, and especially in paranormal, it's a lot of vampires and werewolves and love triangles. How can you NOT compare that to Twilight? There's a lot of trying to jump on the bandwagon and some make it and are fantastic and some fall short.Autumnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17109886403670357674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7616987303830914282.post-38336057326191340172010-10-27T12:36:00.111+01:002010-10-27T12:36:00.111+01:00+JMJ+

I've compared at least two other novels to Twilight in the past few months, but I hope I also explained quite thoroughly why I thought so.

Some time ago, I decided to stop writing formal reviews and to find other creative ways to write about books. (The Character Connection and Locus Focus memes let me zero in on characters or settings, and I make Top 5 Lists and Three-Legged lists.) My favourite alternative strategy is to compare books to other books. I get my best results when I have three seemingly-different books together, but sometimes I have to be obvious and have only two. Like Hush, Hush and Twilight . . . or Fallen and Twilight. =PEnbrethilielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03414765854670926854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7616987303830914282.post-85995473096040859342010-10-27T11:10:44.035+01:002010-10-27T11:10:44.035+01:00I totally understand what you mean! I look on Amazon for reviews for some other books I'm hearing good things about, and all I see is 'it wasn't better than Twilight!' or something to do with Twilight! I love the Twilight Saga, but seriously what is the need to compare other awesome books against it? Why do they have to be compared at all? This isn't a popularity contest!iffathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17664534547074552352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7616987303830914282.post-21873090776330890072010-10-27T00:07:35.287+01:002010-10-27T00:07:35.287+01:00ugh! Look at an individual book for it's own merits... and stop comparing it!the story sirenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13267020418229202701noreply@blogger.com
